Established in the year 1946, Kay Iron Works started manufacturing nuts and bolts along with ammunition boxes for Indian Army.
Started a casting unit for making Vertical Shaft Roller (“KOHLU”) for application in various industries primarily sugar.
KAY IRON WORKS achieved a major milestone in the engineering industry by developing sugar crushing rollers. The first ones were sent to Dhampur Sugar Mills.
Started manufacturing Filter Presses for Sugar Mills. KIW was the first Indian Company to have developed this equipment back in the day.
Established a second unit under the name of Chanderpur Works Pvt. Ltd. dedicated to the fabrication of Sugar Machinery and general steel fabrication.
KAY IRON WORKS starts exporting sugar machinery in the year 1962. Its contribution to the export of Sugar Mill Machinery for the year 1965-66 rose to 21% of the entire country’s export of these items.
Started manufacturing Brick Making Plants in technical collaboration with CBRI, Roorkee. We have over 250 installations till date.
Established a third unit of Kay Iron Works in Sitara, Maharashtra to cater to the western and southern markets of India.
Diversified into manufacturing Cement Plants in technical collaboration with CRI for VSK Plants. The first plant commissioned by the company was Venus Cement in Ranipokhri, Uttarakhand.
We developed “Anti-Reabsorption Roll” for Sugar Industry in technical collaboration with J. Bouvet & Associates, USA.
Supplied Effluent Treatment Plant for distilleries under technical know-how of Larsel, USA. The first plant was installed in Nakodar, Navashehr.
Diversified into the manufacturing of Calcium Carbonate Plants. The first plant commissioned by the company was Superior Carbonate and Chemicals, Poanta Sahib.
The company was split into 3 branches now known as: Kay Iron Works (YNR) Pvt. Ltd., Chanderpur Works Pvt. Ltd., Kay Bouvet Private Limited to individually cater to the industries that the parent company had diversified into.
Kay Iron Works (Yamunanagar) Pvt. Ltd. started supplying hydro-mechanical equipment for Hydropower Plants. The first equipment supplied by our company was Rope Drum Hoists.
KIW was awarded the HM contract for Ramganga Irrigation Project in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. This project was the first major breakthrough for the company in the field of Hydro-mechanical equipment. This 0.9km long barrage had a total of 33 gates accompanied by 33 Rope Drum Hoists on EPC basis.
The company started executing hydro projects as a primary HM contractor for projects in India, Nepal and Africa.
Awarded EPC contract for KyadusyoKhola 4.5 MW Hydropower project in Nepal. It is R-O-R project currently in its construction phase. The scope of the contract included Civil and Electromechanical works of the project as well.
